About
One Pot – a practical app for better meals on board.
Role
Concept, script, art direction, AI image and video generation, UI animation and editing.
Tools
Figma Weave, Figma Motion, Adobe After Effects.
01. The Brief
Make the problem feel familiar
One Pot helps sailors plan meals, adjust portions for their crew and generate a consolidated shopping list.
The video needed to introduce that idea through situations people could recognise: repetitive meals, supermarket decisions and cooking in a small galley.
I built the story around a simple journey—from an empty pot to a shared meal—using product moments to show how the app supports each step.
02. Story before generation
Every shot needed a purpose
I started with the script and voiceover, then mapped the narrative into a storyboard.
This established the sequence before I began generating imagery: the problem, meal planning, shopping, cooking and the reward of eating a delicious meal.
Planning the shots first also helped define where the interface should appear and where footage could carry the emotion.
03. Art direction & AI production
From a visual direction to moving scenes
Before generating footage, I defined the characters, settings and photographic direction. The aim was to give the film a recognisable onboard atmosphere and a consistent visual language across different scenes.
I generated still frames based on the storyboard, then used them as starting points for animation in Figma Weave. I tested different models and selected the outputs that best supported each shot’s intended action and mood.
AI was part of an iterative process: directing the scene, reviewing the result and deciding which material could work in the edit.
04. Product animation & editing
Connect the story to the product
I animated the interface in Figma Motion to show the key steps: choosing meals, adjusting the crew and generating a shopping list. These sequences gave the film a concrete explanation of the product alongside the lifestyle footage.
In After Effects, I brought the footage, UI animation and voiceover together. The edit connected the app’s actions with their real-world context, moving from planning on screen to shopping, cooking and sharing a meal onboard.
AI was part of an iterative process: directing the scene, reviewing the result and deciding which material could work in the edit.
05. Outcome & reflection
A complete film, produced in one day
The result is a short brand video that introduces One Pot through both its purpose and its interface. It also became a practical exploration of how AI-generated footage can fit into a design and motion workflow.
My main takeaway was the value of making creative decisions early. The script, storyboard and visual direction gave me criteria for judging generated material and choosing what belonged in the final film.
