UI Component Consistency Audit

Role

UX Research Assistant / Product Designer

scope

Multi-product ecosystem (value optimisation engine product suite, formerly TRACE ART tools)

Focus

UI consistency, design systems, product alignment

Outcome

Identified critical inconsistencies across products and defined a foundation for a scalable, unified design system.

Summary

This project addressed a system-level design challenge: inconsistent UI components across a portfolio of digital products.

By analyzing multiple tools used across the organization, I identified how fragmented patterns in navigation, dashboards, and core components increased cognitive load and reduced efficiency.

Instead of focusing on isolated UI fixes, I defined a foundation for a unified design system — including standardized components, shared patterns, and governance principles — enabling more consistent user experiences and scalable product development.

01.

Methodology

I applied a structured, evidence-based methodology

  1. Component inventory in Miro board
  2. A component-by-component comparison grid
  3. Atomic design framework
  4. Compared structure, visual style, and interaction behavior
  5. Captured evidence (screens + notes) to support each observation

02.

outcome

I have created an inventory of shared UI components across selected TRACE products and
provided a comparative overview of how they are used and implemented. The analysis highlighted similarities, differences, and opportunities for better alignment.
